*Howdy*
We are Grace and Hannah (Han), a queer couple from St. Louis, Missouri. We have enjoyed woodworking and glass working both as hobbies and professionally for many years. Before taking the plunge of starting our own business in 2024, we spent a lot of time wondering if a business based on our handmade art could be sustainable. Feeling disillusioned with traditional jobs, we knew we had to pursue the unconventional and Han Crafted finally took root.
Anti-capitalism, emphasis on decreased consumption/waste production, and increased reuse/repurposing are at the heart of Han Crafted. We avoid buying new as much as possible and utilize each piece of material in a way that maximizes its potential. We create art from discarded windows, old balusters, shards of glass, and trees that were destined for the chipper.
Working with salvaged material means that there are always surprises and that every product turns out to be a little unique. We enjoy the tests of creativity that come with adapting to those surprises. We hope our enjoyment is palpable in each of our products and that it encourages you to see beauty and possibility in even the most unlikely of places.
